Too Much
A Poem

For some
ultra-wealthy
people
too much
is never enough
while many others
far less wealthy
confuse consumerism
with an illusion
of freedom
for they consume
far more than
what they need
and often more
than they can afford
their endless consumption
becomes a burden
marked by overflowing
basements, attics
garages and more
with all those things
they bought
but never needed
or even used
after all.
Less is often more —
or as the saying goes
Don’t bite off
more than you chew.

Truer words have never been written. Nice poem, Frederick.
Good summation of our times.
