Sometimes you need a respite from the busyness and dissonance of our time. What better way than to escape into the woods and enjoy the sights and sounds on sunny springlike day. This morning was perfect for a hike in the woods, albeit a short 1.1 mile trek on a trail off the main trail we never hiked before. The trail took us downhill from midway along the ridge to the river below, crossing two streams before a long winding climb in which we crossed another stream. As we neared the top, we soon found ourselves along the edge of a steep ravine, littered with blowdowns on both sides and across the raging stream below. Today may have been our first time hiking this trail, but not our last. We look forward to more hikes on the trail from spring through fall.

Your description and photos left me feeling buoyant, Frederick. Thank you. I may seek similar terrain with the remains of today.
I too love being immersed in nature.
