she rises at dawn
naked
she walks
to the bathroom
stands
before the mirror
and stares
her reflection
stares back
with a clumsy kind
of pirouette
she turns
looks
over her shoulder
to see better
she hates her reflection
its ugly truth
and in-your-face
reminder
she’s no longer
the beauty
she once was
Every time I think of my age, I just remind myself that I'm still here, and still in good shape mentally. So I say 'Thank God for that!'
She is even more beautiful than she once was.
