It’s the first day of winter and it feels and looks like it. Cold air brought just enough snow, which promises to last until Christmas Day for those dreaming of a white Christmas in this neck of the woods.
Like many other Substackers, I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting into when I first joined Substack. In the first few months, I only had a couple of dozen subscribers/followers, and felt lucky if a post received more than 40 views or a few likes and comments. In the fourteen months since, the number of subscribers/followers has grown to more than 500. I am thankful for those who read my posts and notes, comment, restack, and recommend. As I’ve stated before, I will never monetize my page. It’ll always be free.
Substack has been a great place to connect with other writers and people with similar interests, and I’ve enjoyed reading and commenting on your work when I can. I appreciate also how many of you read and comment on my posts. Isn’t that why we write—to be read?
If you’re in the Christmas spirit and wish to treat yourself to a book or gift one to someone else, please consider one of my two books: The Writer of Unwritten Books or The Prisoner & Other Stories.
Thank you for supporting me by reading and hopefully enjoying what I write, as well as enjoying my photos.
Best wishes for the holidays and for a productive New Year.
Fred
