Yes, Nancy, it's been there for more than 50 years. Being stationed I'm Germany was an eye opener when I arrived as a clueless 19 year old. But I learned a great deal about history and democracy. I was fascinated with how US democracy differed from thst in Europe and Scandinavia. The multiparty parliamentary systems seemed more democratic and healthier. I also recognized that the US would be more prone to what we're seeing here now.

You're lucky you live where you do.

I lived it and remembered the arguments, some of which flew over my head like a city pigeon. If you hadn't read the literature, you kept your mouth closed. I listened to people debating while quoting people I never heard of until then.

Exactly! I’m told it was all John Lennon’s fault. That he was quoted as saying “Beat the Rich with their own Money”. But since I only heard it from someone, it qualifies as rumor presently.

John Lennon?! Of all the “lefties” in the news in the late 1960s to 1970s, he wasn't one who came to mind. Thank you for restacking my post.
